Isaiah 14: Yehoweh founds Zion, the shattering of Babel and Philistia caused from the north

1: For Yehoweh is motherly-compassionate on Jacob (opportunist) and He chooses again or Israel (God-strife).

And He had caused them to settle in their own soil (Adamah – where roots grow – not eretz land) and He joined / entwined sojourners / foreign settlers with them and they were assigned over Jacob’s house.

2: And they had taken/bought peoples and had caused to traverse them to their place and had caused them to inherit Israel’s house themselves for menservants and for maidservants  in Yehoweh’s soil (Adamah).

They had become captives (shabah) to their captors and they had dominated their taskmasters.

Pause and think about that!

3:  And it happens in Yehoweh’s Day of settling down from your labour-pain and turmoil and severe work for which you worked,

4: and you had picked up this proverbial saying (mashal) against Babel’s King.  And you had said, “How had the taskmaster rested/ stopped ( Shabbat)?”

She, a gold city, stopped.

5:  Yehoweh shattered (shabar) a tribe/rod of the wicked, a tribe/rod of dominators (mashal),

6: causing to smite (makay) peoples  in righteous-anger,

An undeflected blow (makath) dominated by temper.

He was not restrained in the domination of unbelieving nations.

7: All the land, she had been settled, had been calm.

They (fem) had burst forth into ringing/songs of praise.

8: Even cypresses had been glad over you.

From when Cedars of Lebanon had been laid down,

the tree-feller had not ascended / come up against us.

9: From below, an underworld (Sheol) had been perturbed for you in encountering your coming. It had awakened ghosts for you. All the virile goats of the land were caused to be stood, all kings of unbelieving nations from their thrones.

10: All of them answer and say to you, “ You also had been diseased as we were, you had resembled us.

11:  Your pomp had been made to descend to Sheol.  Under you, a cacophony of a guitar (stringed instrument with a cavity) had been made to spread.

A worm your duvet – a scarlet worm ( Ps 22:6 tolah – scarlet dye used for priestly garment from coccus ilicis, a parasitic worm which extrudes this when crushed; a type of Christ and His forgiveness, Isaiah 1:18, priestly thread colour got from this).

12: How had you fallen from heavens, Haylel (from Hallel – noise of praise) son of dawn! (?Rev 22:16 bright morning star, given to those who faithfully stand in Thiyatira Rev 2:28) Hewed down to land, disabled on unbelieving nations.

13: And you had said in your heart, “I ascend from the heavens, to above God’s stars. I cause my throne to be exalted. I dwell in a mountain of Moed (appointed feasts, v 31) in the remote north.

14: I ascend above the rain cloud peaks. I make myself resemble myself to the Most High ((Elyon).

15: Yet you are caused to descend to Sheol, to the recesses of a dungeon/cistern.

16: Your viewers cause to gaze at you. They make themselves discern to themselves: This is the man who caused the land to be perturbed, caused kingdoms to be quaked,

17: established of a populated-land (thebel fem) as a desert, and he had torn down its cities, not opened his up his captives in her house.

18: All kings of unbelieving nations – all of them – had rested in glory – (each) man in his own house.

19: And you had been caused to be flung out of your sepulchre, like an abhorred shoot, a garment of slain people thrusted through a sword who descended onto stones in a pit, like a corpse trodden underfoot.

20: You are not united with  them in a sepulchre for you had been ruined in your land, your people slain, never called, forever a brood of evil doers.

21: Cause to confirm his sons for slaughter for their father’s futile sins lest they establish and had possessed land and had filled the face of land with cities.

22: And I, Word Yehoweh of Parliaments, arose up against them.

And I, Word Yehoweh, caused the name of Babel to be cut off, and remnant and  increase and posterity.

23: And I, Word Yehoweh of Parliaments, established her as a porcupine’s possession (Zeph 2:14, Isaiah 34:11 – effect on judged land) and marsh waters and swept away the destroying with a broom.

(Vey theya theya thiya baema theya theya).

Pause and think about that!

24:  Yehoweh of Parliaments was sworn to say, “If it is not as I had likened it then so be it. If it is as I had advised,  so she stands.

25: To shatter Ashur in My land –  from My mountain, I trample him. He had turned aside from them and he turns aside his yoke and his burden from between their shoulder.

26: This is the advice advised for all the land and this is the hand stretched out over all unbelieving nations.

27: For Yehoweh of Parliaments had advised and who can cause to violate it? And who can cause to turn back His stretched out Hand? Phew!

28: In the year of Ahaz’s (he grasped) death, this had become a burden

29: Do not rejoice all you in Plesheth (philistia – roll about mourning) because the tribe/rod (which) struck you is shattered. For from the root of a snake, a viper emerges and it’s fruit is a flying seraph (serpent).

30: And a first born of the poor and needy had pastured in security, stretches out.

And I had caused your root to die with famine and it slays your remnant.

31: Cause a hullabaloo, gate. Shriek out, city. Be melted, all of you in Plesheth.  For from the north comes smoke and not one of its appointed times (v13) is separated.

32:  And what will a nation’s Messengers answer? That Yehoweh founded Zion and in it the poor of His people take refuge.

Pause and think about that!

Prayer: Yehoweh we take refuge in Zion, which you founded. We rejoice that the wicked are shattered and their end was caused from the north. Yehoweh has won the Victory!
