1: On my watch, I stand and make myself stand aloof in a safe space (seige-work) and peer to see what He says to me and what I turn back of my reasoning.
2: And Yehoweh answers me and says, “Write a vision and explain on tablets in order that a reader runs with it.
3: For a vision is yet for an appointed time. And, in the end, it causes to utter and does not lie.
Though it makes itself waitingly wait for it,
For It traversingly traverses (comes/goes)
It is not late.
4: Behold his soul, she was swollen was not straight in him.
And righteousness lives in steadfastness. (emunah, Faith)
5: And of course a haughty man deceived by the wine is not domesticated, who makes room in his soul for Sheol and he, like death, is not satisfied.
And he gathers-to- remove (asaf) to himself all the unbelieving nations.
And he gathers-to- assemble (kavetz) to himself all the people.
6: Will not all these lift up a ditty to him, a satire, a conundrum for him and say, woe (oye, ayyo) to him who makes himself increase and not how much longer is he causing himself glory in loans/borrowing?
7: In a blink of an eye, will not stingers (loan sharks) rise up and startle awake to violently shake (zaak zaak) you. You had become for their plunders.
8: For you had plundered a great many unbelieving nations. All the overflow of other people plunder you
^for the blood of a man and a land’s violence, a city and all its inhabitants. Phew!
9: Woe to greedy greedy breaking off (botsey) troublesome-evil for his house to set it as a nest on high, to snatch it away from the hand of troublesome-evil.
10: You had advised shame (bosheth) to your house, cutting off a great many people and missing-the-mark- sinning of your soul.
11: For a stone of a wall shrieks and a wooden lintel/beam answers. Phew!
12: Woe to building (bonay) a town in blood and establishing a city in wickedness (Aven).
13: Behold, is it not of the/time of Yehoweh of Parliaments?
People (ammim) tire (tirelessly toil) for fire (?fuel) sufficiency.
Communities (ummim) faint for sufficiency in vain.
14: For the land is filled with knowledge of Yehoweh’s glory as waters cover over* a sea. Pause and think about that!
15: Woe to making a neighbour/friend drink, causing an attachment to a bottle – and of course drinking – in order to cause to see his nakedness.
16: You were sated with a groin (instead of) glory. Drink – You also! – and your uncircumcised (self) is exposed.
A cup in Yehoweh’s right hand rises to you, surrounds you, public humiliation over your glory.
17: For Hamas (violence) in Lebanon covers* you up.
And brute devastation causes them dismay
^ for the blood of a man and a land’s violence, a city and all its inhabitants.
Pause and think about that!
18: What image caused profit for its engraver? A design for its designer and a trainer-maker of lies?
For a designer had trusted his design to make dumb idols above it.
Pause and think about that!
19: Woe to saying to wood, rise up to a silent stone. It caused you to train.
Behold! It is laid over with gold and silver and all breath/spirit is not in it.
20: And Yehoweh is in His holy temple. Hush (shut up) before His Face all the land.
Phew!
Prayer: Thank You, Yehoweh of Parliaments, that even if you are delayed, You are never late.
Save us from anxious striving, self sufficiency, pragmatic human efforts, huge loans and lewd indulgences for we will be publicly shamed if we design idols of dumb lies.
