1: Obadiah’s (servant of Yehoweh) vision: Thus said Lord Yehoweh about Edom ( Esau’s, southeast dead sea, those who gave inheritance for earthly pleasures, Jer 49:7 Amos 1:11 Dan 11:41 ):
We had named a nomenclature (fem) from the/time of Yehoweh. And a pivot of unbelieving nations was sent away. Arise. Let us arise against her for battle.
2: Behold I had given you insignificance amongst unbelieving nations. You were greatly despised.
3: The arrogance of your heart had caused you to deceive, rock-cleft lodgers on high. Your rest is saying in your heart, “who cause me to be brought down to earth?”
4: If you cause ascent like an eagle and if set up as stars, I, Word Yehoweh, will cause you to be pulled down.
5: If thieves had come/gone on you, if devastators by night, how you were ruined!
Would they not steal enough?
When grape gatherers had traversed to/from you, they will not cause grapes to be left over? (Mirror image of Jer 49:9, refers to after the second harvest, Isaiah 24:13)
6: How was Esau disguised and his treasures searched? (Jer 49:10a)
7: They sent you away to the border. All men in the alliance had caused to deceive you. All men at peace with you were able to be against you for your bread. They set up a diversion-from-truth below you. No one is understanding of it.
8: On that Day, did I, Word Yehoweh, not cause to destroy the wise men of Edom? And understanding from Esau’s mountain (Deut 2:4,5 – Yehoweh gave Esau land from Mt Seir and told Israel not to meddle with the Edomites)?
9: And Teman (from yamin, south West Jordan, northwest Saudi, traditionally academic, Ma’an in Saudi today, God comes up as judge from there in Hab 3:3), your mighty men had been terrorised in order to covenant a man from Esau’s mountain by violent killing.
10: For violence (Hamas) against your brother Jacob layers you up with shame and you are covenant-cut forever.
11: In a day of standing opposite, in a day of a captive army of strangers and foreigners had traversed his gates and had cast lots over Jerusalem – there also you were one with them.
12: And you should not look on your brother’s day – on a day of his foreign-ness.
And you should not rejoice on a day of Judah’s sons – on a day of their destruction.
And you should not cause your mouth to make great in a day of constricting-trouble (tsara).
13: And you should not traverse My people’s gate in a day of their oppression (Edam).
Also, you, should not look on their day of troublesome evil, on a day of their oppression (Edo).
And don’t you (fem) send out armies on a day of their oppression (Edo).
14: And do not take a stand at pillage to cause to covenant cut their refugees.
And do not deliver up their remnant in a day of constricting-trouble (tsara).
15: For Yehoweh’s day is near for all unbelieving nations: As you did is being done to you. I will turn back your recompensation on your head.
16: For as you had drunk on My Holy mountain, all the unbelieving nations drink perpetually. And they drank and they gulped as if they had never had it.
17: But on Mount Zion there is escape and there is holiness. And the house of Jacob drive-out-to-possess their possessions.
18: And the house of Jacob (opportunist) was a fire.
And the house of Joseph (added-on) was a flame (Ps 29:7).
And the house of Esau – stubble/straw.
And they hotly pursued them and consumed them.
(Esau being eaten straw finds a Koranic reference in all 5 verses of Surah al-Fil – the 105th ‘chapter of elephants’ which contests v18 with the story of a Yemeni king 20000 strong with elephants attacking Mohammed and being defeated:
105 : 1: Have you not considered how your Lord dealt with the People of the Elephant (the army of Abrahah, the viceroy of the Negus, king of Abyssînia at Yemen)?
2: Did He not make their stratagems go awry, 3: and send against them flocks of birds
4: pelting them with stones of shale,
5: thus making them like eaten straw?”.
On 11/3/2026 Hezbollah launched an operation named from this Surah called Operation Eaten Straw https://www.palestinechronicle.com/hezbollah-announces-eaten-straw-operation-launches-100-missiles-at-israel/ They challenge v 18 with their narrative on one hand but also identify themselves as of the house of Esau)
And there is no remnant of the house of Esau.
For Yehoweh had declared.
19: And they drive-out-to-possess the Negev (desert/south) – the/time of Esau’s mountain and lowland (Shaphelah – buffer zone to Gaza, ceasefire first phase yellow line?), the/time of Philistines (wallow, south West coastal plain of Canaan – Gaza, Ashklon, Ashdod, Gath, Ekron).
And they drive-out-to-possess the/time of Ephraim’s fields and the/time of Samaria’s fields and Benjamin’s, the/time of Gilead (West bank and Golan?).
20: And this army’s exiles to the sons of Israel who are Canaanites until Zarefath (between Tyre and Sidon where Elijah raised the widow’s son, a type of God saving Gentiles Luke 4:24-28, As-Sarafand in south Lebanon)
And Jerusalem exiles who are Sephardic drive-out-to-possess the/time of the Negev.
21: And cause-to-savers /saviours (moshiyim) ascended to Mount Zion to judge the/time of Esau’s mountain and they were for Yehoweh’s kingdom.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, you came to save and judge. May we never rejoice when Jacob suffers. May we never give up our inheritance for a bowl of soup. May we be Your flame of the fire. Amen.
