Micah 1: Yehoweh, a mournful witness to Israel’s sin as troublesome evil descends.  

1: Yehoweh’s speech which happened to be to Micah (who is like?, overlaps with Isaiah and Hosea 735-800 BC) the Moreshethi (Jer 26:18, modern Tel Maresha in south Israel at the Judean foothills as described by Jerome and Eusebius to have Micah’s tomb vs Tel ej Judiedeh more north), in the days of Judean kings Jotham (Yehoweh-tham blameless), Akaz (he grasped), Yekizkiyah ( kizki strengthen -Yah) which he had envisioned over Shomron (Watchers) and Jerusalem (shooting peace).

2: Hear, all you peoples. Attend, land and its fullness. And let it happen that Lord Yehoweh, Lord of His Holy temple, is a witness against you.

3: For Behold, emerging-from-His-place Yehoweh! And He had descended and treaded (made a way) on land’s high places (Highlands).

4:  The mountains had melted beneath Him and the lowlands make themselves breach themselves like wax in the face of fire, like water is hurtled down (Nagar) a ravine.

5: This is all in Jacob’s (opportunist)  rebellious-sin (Psha), and in House of Israel’s (God-strife) missing-the-mark-sin (katha).

Whose rebellious-sin, Jacob? Is it not Shomron’s?

And whose high places, Judah (God-praise)? Is it not Jerusalem’?

6: And I had made Shomron, the ruinous heap of the field for a planted vineyard.  And I had caused her stones to be hurtled down to a gorge (gavah also pride). And I bare/expose her foundations.

7: And all her carvings are battered. And all her earnings are burnt in a fire.  And I appoint all her idols for desolation for she had gathered-to-collect them from a harlot’s earning and to a harlot’s earning they return.

8: Over this I mourn/lament (safad) and I cause a howl (yalal = yell). I walk stripped (shulal) and naked.  I make a mournful-call like jackals (why do tanim (8577) and yanah (3284) also occur together in Job 30:29, Is 13:22, 34:13, 43:20?)

and a dirge (ebal) like  daughters of ostriches (why do banoth (1323) and yanah (3284) occur only together in Lev 11:16, Deut 14:15, Job 30:29, Isaiah 13:22, 34:13, 43:20, Jer 50:39?)

 9: For her wounds/stripes are incurable. For it had traversed till Judah. It had touched/inflicted till my people’s  gate, till Jerusalem.

10: Do not declare (thagid) it in Gath (Maresha is of Gath).

 Do not weepingly weep.

Make yourself wallow yourself in the dust (apar) of l’Ephrah’s (apra, also at Judah foothills near Maresha) house (the house from dust).

11: Cross-over naked, you inhabitant of Shafir (beauty). No shame to appear/emerge, inhabitant of Zanan (Sheep pasture).  A dirge: Beth-etsel’s (Nearby house) takes away your standing/position from you.

12:  For it was to good that you were sick, inhabitant of Maroth (pl of Mara – bitter = m+ ra ), for troublesome-evil (ra) descends (yarad) from the/time of Yehoweh to Jerusalem’ gate.

13:  Attach the chariot (fem) to a steed, inhabitant of Lakish. She was the  beginning of missing-the-mark-sin to Zion’s daughter (bath). For the Israel’s rebellious-sin had been found in you (bak).

14: Therefore you give dowries over Mareshith-gath (yarash possession of a wine-press) to houses of Akzib (deception) for a lie (Akzav) to kings of Israel.

15: And yet the possessor (yoresh) I traverse to you, inhabitant of Maresha, traverses Israel’s glory to Adullam.

16: Go bald and cut hair for children, your delight. Make broad your baldness like an eagle for it had been stripped from you.

17: Ayyo to those who think up futile evil (Aven) and make troublesome-evil (ra) on their beds. At light of dawn, they create her (?) for it is a god of their hand. 

 Prayer: May we never abandon our covenant with You, Yehoweh lest you turn hostile witness against us and we are deceived into creating our god by our hand. Let us never be the cause for you to mourn and wail for us because we bought evil upon ourselves. Amen.
