Psalm 62

The Akh-Ulkha poem

1: To the head of the choir master family. A melody of David.

Surely (Akh) to God my soul (is in) silence. From Him (is) my Jesus.

2: Surely He is my rock and my Jesus, my security – I will not be greatly shaken.

3: How long will you yell at man, “you all are being slaughtered – like flattened, spread out like a toppled fence.

4: Surely from their uprising, they counselled, they caused to cast down, they are happy with deception, blessing with their mouth, and cursing inside – think about that!

5: Surely to God my soul (is in) silence. From Him – my hope.

6: Surely He is my rock and my Jesus, my security – I will not be shaken.

7: In God – my salvation and my glory, my rock strength, In God – my refuge.

8: Trust Him with all time

People, be pouring out your heart before His face

Elohim  – a shelter for us. Pause and Think about that!

9: Surely on weighing scales, vaporous sons of Adam ( and) lying sons of a man are together weighed lighter than vapour!

10: Do not be trusting in oppression and theft.

Do not be hoping in efficiency ( ability/ wealth).

Because they do not bear fruit.

Do not set your heart on them.

11: One – God spoke. Two – This I heard: “Might to Elohim”.

12: And in You (Ulkha), my Lord (is) loving kindness because you shalom-ed (made whole / completed ) to man what he was doing.

Thank you Lord. I am silent before You – no eloquent words or prayers! And in any case I can see my feather weight efforts and management-speak and teams are toppled over – dead. I can expect you to make my work whole not by efficient or pragmatic or clever means, but by Your might. Not because of I deserve it but because of Your magnanimous loving kindness. Thank you Lord.

One response to “Psalm 62”

  1. The prayer at the end is very helpful… It consolidates all the key thoughts beautifully.
