Jeremiah 49b: 23 – 38. Syria abandons Covenant joy and falls, King Yshua enthroned in Iran by repenting southwestern Iranians.

23: To Damascus (Rachel and Laban’s people, Naaman were Aramean descendents of Shem, instruments of punishment to Israel):

Khomath and Arpad (northern Aram border towns, Hama, Syria 100m north of Damascus is Israel’s north boundary mark and Tel Arfad north of Aleppo- Arpad – is only mentioned x6 together with Khamad) were ashamed.

For they had heard bad/troublesome hears (news, reports) and were melted into water/sea (masc). Anxiety makes him (water) not able to be quiet.

24: Damascus had sunk. She caused to face escaping and panic had caused to seize her. Distress /Trouble (tsara) and a corded rope had seized her as in childbearing.

25: How is a deserted city (ir) not a town (Kirah multistorey town vs Aram-Kirath – fortress Aram in Amos 1:5) of praise and My covenant-joy (masus / asis vs simka which is joy)?

26:  And so young men fall down in their open squares and all men of war are cut down in That Day of Word Yehoweh of Parliaments.

27: And I kindle a fire in the protection wall of Damascus and it consumes Ben Hadad’s palaces (both Hadads – Gen 36:35, 1 Kings 11:14 – were Edomites not Aramean, and the Aramean Ben Hadads 900-796 BC (1Kings 15/ 2Chron 16, 1Ki 20 / 2 Ki 6, 2 Ki 13) had gone by Jeremiah’s time 687-585 BC  and so reasonable to say the undated prophetic section of Jeremiah ch 46-51 would refer to the title of Syrian king).

Pause and think about that!

28:  To Kedar and kingdoms of Khatzor (Dark skinned Nomadic tribes – Bedouin,, Ishmael’s descendants, northwest Saudi incl  UAE etc and north Canaanite eg Jabin king of Hazor Judg 4:17 and southern (Negev) nomads on Egypt-Syria trade route ) who caused strikes on Nebukadretsor, king of Babylon. Thus says Yehoweh:

Arise, Ascend to Kedar and desolate the men of the east / frontier.

29: They take their tents and their flocks, they lift up their tent curtains and all their utensils and their camels for them (selves). And they cried out over them – “Surrounding terror” (mgor used in this phrase 7/8 times – Strong’s 4032 – 5 in Jeremiah – Emiratis are surrounded by nations with terrorist groups).

30:  Escape! Totter away! Cause great deepenings to dwell, dwellers of Khatzor.

For Word Yehoweh had counselled against you.

And a counsel of Nebukadretsor, king of Babylon contrived a contrivance  (v20) against you.

31: Arise! Ascend to an unbelieving nation at ease, dwelling securely (in)  Word Yehoweh – no swing doors, no gate-bars – to permanently reside on your own (detached house).

32:  And their camels had happened to be for plunder, a mix (diverse, tumultuous, multitude) of acquistions for spoil, to strew to wind – to the most cut-off corner.

And from all the over-side (noun of avar ie overseas?), I, Word Yehoweh, cause a time of calamity to traverse (eg America invading).

33:  And Khatzor became a lair of monsters, a desolation for ever.

no man resides (permanently) there  (Obadiah 1:18)

and no Son Of Man sojourns in her (as in Jer 49:18).

Pause and think about that!

34: That which happened  – Yehoweh’s speech to Jeremiah (Yah + Room exalted), the prophet, against Elam (Aelam – son of Shem – SW Iran, some returned to Israel from exile, Susa was capital, now Khazestan in Iran) at the head of Zedekiah’s, king of Judah’s, reign, to say:

35: Thus said Yehoweh of Parliaments, Behold I shatter Elam’s bow, the first fruit of their might.

36: And I caused to traverse against Elam four winds / spirits from four corners /ends/coasts of the heavens. And they strewed them  to all these the winds and no unbelieving nation is there where they do not traverse – the banished of Elam.

37: And I caused Elam to be prostrate before the face of their enemies and before those who sought their souls. And I, Word Yehoweh, caused trouble to traverse over them and a temper of burning anger.

And I sent the sword after them till I finished them off (kala).

38: And I, Word Yehoweh, had set up my throne in Elam and caused a king and princes to be destroyed from there.

39: And it happened in the last days, I, Word Yehoweh,  caused Elam’s captives to turn back.

Pause and think about that!

Prayer: Lord Jesus, Word of God, may we always choose You, our covenant Joy and thus be delivered from destruction and be in the place where You sojourn with us. We praise You as You move among Iranians to turn them back to You and become their enthroned King as outlined in this Your blueprint plan for the middle east. Hallelujah!
