1: Who had caused to confirm (Hifil Amen) our news?
And to whom has Yehoweh’s outreach (arm) been uncovered?
2: And He ascends like a sucker (shoot from the base of a cut tree) to His Face.
And as a root from dry (tsiyah~Zion) land (eretz).
He (has) no profile, and no outward (ornamental) beauty (khadhar vs khod in Ps 21:5, khod being revelatory beauty) and (so that) we see him.
And no appearance (m’reah) and (so that) we desire (khamadh) him (vs Gen 2:9 trees which were desirable ( nifal- khamadh) appearances (m’reah)).
3: He is despised (either Nifal yiqtol 3ms or Nifal participle ms)*.
And refused by men,
a man of pains (makob),
knowing (like the back of his hand – yada) diseases (kholi).
And as a secret, despised* from Him, are faces.
And we had not reckoned Him.
4: Nevertheless He had lifted up our diseases,
He had carried our pains.
And so we considered Him
‘contaminated’ (touched to contaminate – nagua from nagaa)
‘defeated’ (struck to defeat – mookaiy from naka)
God (Elohim)
– and depressed (mayoonaiy fom ana).
5: And He,
pierced (chalal) for our rebellion-sins (Psha),
crushed for our futile-panting-for-nothing-sins (Aven),
Chastened for our wholenesses on Him.
And by His bruises, we, we were healed.
6: All of us, like sheep, had wandered. A man had faced his way.
Yehoweh had caused Him to encounter futile-sin of us all.
7: He was driven (picture a driver whipping an animal pulling a cart).
And he was depressed (pushed down).
And He does not open His mouth.
8: He was whisked from oppression (Caiaphas?) and to justice (Pilate?) in His generation (Jn 18:28). Who complains?
He was sliced from the land of the living, for a plague of my people’s rebellion-sin to Him.
9: And He gives The Wicked His grave and The Rich in His death over no violence He had done and no deceit in His mouth.
10: And Yehoweh was delighted to strike Him (rather than us), cause Him illness when you make a guilt offering of His soul.
He sees a seed cause to extend days and Yehoweh’s delight prospers in His Hand.
11: He sees His Soul’s work.
He is satisfied in the knowledge that My Just Servant will cause justification of a great many.
And He bears-burden of their futile-sin.
12: Therefore I apportion Him with great-ones and the mighty-ones.
He apportions spoil under (?Sheol) which He had caused to uncover (in) His Soul’s death.
And He was counted with rebellious-sinners.
And He lifted up a great-many missing-the-mark-sins.
And He causes intervening (paga – Intercession, meeting-up, pagash – righteousness and justice meet Ps 85:10) for rebellious-sinners.
Pause and think about that! Prayer: I don’t know what to say when I realize the gruesome punishment You took on from Your Father for me. An un-repayable debt. O the deep love of the Father, O the redeeming work of the Son’s soul. I may have heard this from my birth but nearly 60 years later, I am still dumbstruck by the enormity of the suffering He undertook for us! I am deeply thankful though – What a plight He rescued us from! Amen
