Amos 1,2a: God stops Laban, Esau and Lot’s peoples’ rebellion – and Gaza, Judah and Israel’s. God fires on their wealthy homes. They are stopped from threshing, baring, chasing brothers, knifing mothers. They are made bare, covenant-cut to each other, blasted, blown away and imprisoned.

1: Amos’ (burdened) words – (who had been amongst sheep breeders in Tekoa (trumpet/blow)) – on Israel (God-strife) in the days of Uzziah (God’s strength), king of Judah (God-praise) and Jeroboam (contender with people) son of Joash (God’s fire) king of Israel two years before the earthquake.

2: And he says, Yehoweh roars from Zion (Dry hill) and gives His Voice from Jerusalem (shooting peace).

And the shepherds’ pastureland withers on top of Carmel (fertile field, northern mount of Elijah’s showdown, northern town of Saul’s self-memorial and Nabal’s fertile plot).

3:   Thus said Yehoweh over three Damashek (Damascus) rebellion-sins, and over four, I will cause them to not turn back to a threshing with the sharp iron instruments at Gilead (Laban-Jacob memorial cairn in East Jordan where Reuben, Gad and Manasseh have inheritances. Laban was Aramean/Syrian).

4: And I sent into the house of Khazel (God’s vision) a fire and it devoured palaces of Ben-Hadad (3 syrian kings, Aedomite storm god).

5: And I shattered a Damashek gate and I caused to (covenant) cut an inhabiter of Aven (1 – futile-sin, Beqa in Syria) valley (beqath).

and the upholder sceptre (tribe which upholds) of house of Aden (2 – delight, syrian place)

And the people of Aram Kira (3 – Fortress Syria) were stripped, said Yehoweh.

6: Thus said Yehoweh over three GAza  rebellion-sins, and over four, I will cause them to not turn back on the caused stripping/capturing  of the complete (all the) stripped/captured, to deliver them to Aedom (red, Esau–Jacob). 

7: And I dispatched a fire into a GAza (impudent brazen strength, southernmost Philistine city) wall and it devoured her palaces. 

8: And I caused to (covenant) cut an Ashdod (1 – despoiler, philistine place) inhabiter

and the upholder sceptre (tribe which upholds) of the house of Ashkelon (2 – weighing place, philistine place)

And I cause to turn My Hand back from Acron (3 – uproot, philistine place)

And the remnant of the Philistines (to roll/wallow) perished,

said Lord Yehoweh.

9: Thus said Yehoweh over three Tyre (tsor – rock)  rebellion-sins, and over four, I will cause them to not turn back from causing the delivery of the whole stripped/ captured to Aedom (Esau – red). And  they had not remembered  the brothers’ covenant (Esau-Jacob). 

10: And I dispatched a fire on a Tyre wall  and it devoured it’s palaces. 

Phew!

 

11: Thus said Yehoweh over three Aedom (Esau)  rebellion-sins, and over four, I will cause them not to turn back from being in pursuit his brother with a sword. And he cast off his mercy and then tore his temper and watched (nursed) his anger forever. 

12: And I dispatched a fire on Teman (4 –right hand, Aedomite place) and it devoured the Batsra (sheep fold,  Aedomite place) palaces.

Phew!

 

13: Thus said Yehoweh over three Ammon (Lot’s son’s people – ben Ammi by his younger daughter – in northern Jordan – the other daughter’s people – Moab – from father – were in the south)  rebellion-sins, and over four, I will cause them to not turn back from ripping open of pregnant women of the Gilead (memorial cairn) in order to cause to increase their territory.

 14: And I caused a fire to be kindled in Rabba’s (great, capital of Ammonites) wall and it devoured its palaces

in a blast on the day of battle,

in a whirlwind on the day of a tempest. 

15: And their king walked into captivity and his princes as one, said Yehoweh.

Amos 2

1:  Thus said Yehoweh over three Moab (Lot’s older daughter’s people – Moab – were in south Jordan whilst ben Ammi by his younger daughter were in north Jordan)  rebellion-sins, and over four, I will cause them to not turn back to setting a fire to Aedom king’s bones to (make it into) whitewash.

2: And I despatched a fire on Moab (4) and it devoured the Kirioth (fortresses,  S. Jordan city ?in Negev) palaces

And Moab died tumultously with a blast and a sound of a trumpet.

3. And I caused to (covenant) cut a judge from its midst and I slay her prince with him says Yehoweh.

Phew!

 

4: Thus said Yehoweh over three Judah (God-Praise) rebellion-sins, and over four, I will cause them to not turn back from despisement of Yehoweh’s instruction manual.

And they did not watch over His commandments.

And He caused them to wander (in) their lies after which their fathers had walked.

5: And I despatched a fire on Judah (4) and it devoured Jerusalem’s  palaces.

6: Thus said Yehoweh over three Israel (God-Strife) rebellion-sins, and over four, I will cause them to not turn back from the sale of a righteous poor (one’s) silver over shoelaces.
