1: A vision of Isaiah (Ysha-Yahu = Our God saves/ Ysha) son of Amots (strengthen) which he visioned over Judah (God-Praise) and Jerusalem (Shooting-Peace) in days of Uziyahu (God-our power), Yotham (complete/perfect), Akhaz (seize), Judah’s kings.
2: Listen, heavens. Cause to hear, earth. For Yehoweh spoke: “ I made great and I lifted children up. And they rebelled againt Me!
3: A bull knew (Yada – to know from skilled practice) his owner and a donkey a manger. Israel (God-strife) does not know of its lord (Bael). My people do not make themselves discern (Been – to know from thinking).
4: Ayyo! An unbelieving missing-the-mark nation, a sin-glorifying people, seed of evil-makers, children of those who make corrupters. They forsook their Yehoweh. They scorned their Holy One of Israel. They were estranged to before (the past).
5: For what are you caused to be beaten again? You caused apostasy to be increased?
The whole head – sickness.
The heart – faint.
6: There is nothing wholesome in it from the arch of the foot to the top of the head. Bruises and blows and oozing sores not turned aside not bandaged and not softened with oils.
7: Your earth (eretz) – desolation. Your fire-burnt cities. In front of your land (adamah) there are devouring strangers. And the desolation is – like – overturning strangers.
8: And ZION’s daughter was left behind like a tent (sukka) in a vineyard, like an overnight shelter in a craftworkshop /cucumber garden, like a guarded city.
9: Unless Yehoweh of Parliaments caused a small remnant of us to remain, like Sodom we were, like Gomorrah we resembled.
10: Hear Yehoweh’s word (dabar), government officials of Sodom. Cause your ears to hear our God’s instructions (torah), people of Gomorrah.
11: For what are your many slaughter sacrifices to Me, said Yehoweh. I had enough with rams offered up and the fat of stall fed (muhrim also means rebellious from mara) and the blood of bulls and lambs and rams. I was not pleased.
12: For you come to be seen before my face. Who required this from your hand to creep about my courtyard?
13: No cause to increase the making of a flow (coming/going) of Gift-Aid (f). Vanity-incense (Shaveh (f)- as in taking the Lord’s name in vain Ex 20:7, qatar incense) – She is an abomination to Me.
A new Moon (~anniversaries or inaugurations) and
a sabbath,
calling a convention (kara mikra both from kara, mikra referring to a festival convention week Ex 12:16)
– I don’t take the trouble (aven) –
and (also/not even) a church service (atserah – from restraining/fasting/ not working on the eighth day of a mikra would be an atserah – a worship meeting at the end of the Passover week Lev 23:36).
14: My Soul hates your New moons and your appointed times (Moedim). They are trouble on Me. Lifting them up exhausted Me.
15: And when you spread out your palms, I will hide my eyes from you. Even though you cause a massive supplication, I heard not. Your hands are full of blood.
16: Wash! Make clean! Cause to put aside your bad work from in front of My Eyes. Desist from doing bad.
17: Learn to be pleasing. Seek justice. Make the sour happy.
Judge (for) an orphan, contend (for) a vulnerable (silent) woman. *{v23}
Think.
18: Come, Na, we are reproved together says Yehoweh.
If your missing-the-mark is like scarlet (priestly colour- not blood), they are made whitened like snow.
If like a ruddy worm, they are like wool.
19: If you are willing and listened to good, you eat of the land.
20: And if you refuse and you rebelled, a sword devoured you.
For the mouth of Yehoweh spoke.
Think.
21: in what way did a faithful city full of justice become a harlot? Righteousness is permanently resident in it but now murderers.
22: Your silver became dross, your intoxicating drink diluted with water.
23: Your stubborn princes and associates – Thieves. Everyone loves bribes and pursues compensations. No Judge (for) an orphan, no contending (for) a vulnerable (silent) woman traverses before them. *{v17}
Stop.
24: Therefore The Word of The Lord, Yehoweh of Parliaments, Mighty one of Israel, Ayyo, I am comforted from my restrainers, I am avenged of my enemies!
25: And I make my hand repent of you. I smelt pure your dross and make all alloy/impurities turn away.
26: And I will make your judges repent as at first, and your counsels as in the beginning.
After that you are called city of righteousness and confirmed a famed town.
27: Zion (parched hill) is redeemed with justice and her repentant with righteousness.
28: And the destruction of the rebels and the convicted are one.
And they eat the forsakers of Yehoweh.
29: For they (rebels) are ashamed of the rams which you (convicted) by the gardens you chose.
30: For you happen to be a foolish great oak tree leaf and like a garden which has no water for it.
31: And it happened that the strong one is for textile waste (?material for wick), his work for an igniting spark. The two of them burnt as one and no one (is) a quencher.
Think!
Prayer: Lord may I always defend the orphan and widow in loyal obedience to You, the One whom I know from practice and from thinking about You as my Owner-Lord. May those convicted Sodom-and-Gomorrahans who deliberately rebel against You and attend ritualistic church services repent that they may be saved from their due punishment, burning, destruction. Amen.
