Judges 6:1-14 Who are you? Poor low caste Cutter threshing grain furtively or Yehoweh’s mighty single man of wealth and valour saving a nation?

1: And the sons of Israel make trouble in the eyes of Yehoweh.

So Yehoweh gave them into ‘By-Judgement’s’ (M+deen – Midian) hand for 7 years:

2: And ‘ByJudgement’s’ hand prevailed against Israel. In Midian’s face, sons of Israel made canals (from nakar=stream) for themselves in mountains and the silos (from ur=dark) in the fortresses.

3: And it happened that when Israel sowed and Midian and Labourers (Amalek) and sons of east (rising, early) ascended (aliyah) upon them.

4: And they migrated over them and spoilt their land’s produce coming till Gaza ( Az=strength) and make no left over for Israel’s living – (not) a sheep, an ox, an ass.

5: For they and their possessions ascend. And their tents come sufficient for the great increase. And no count for both they and their camels. And they enter the land and destroy it.

6: And Israel is weakened greatly in from of Midian and sons of Israel cry out to Yehoweh.

Phew!

7: And it happens when sons of Israel cry out to Yehoweh on account of Midian,

8: And Yehoweh sends a man of inspired speech (nabi=prophecy) to sons of Israel and he says to them, “Thus Yehoweh, God of Israel, “I made you ascend from Egypt and make you to be brought out of the house of servitude.

9: And I cause you to be snatched out of the hand of Egypt and from the hand of all oppressors.

And I drive them out from you in front of your face.

And I give her (Egypt = Mitsarim is fem) to you, For you their lands.

10: And I say to her, “To you, I am Yehoweh, your God. Don’t you fear the Amorite (from amar=saying) gods in whose lands you dwell. And you had not heard (shema = hear+obey) my voice”.

Phew!

11: And Messenger Yehoweh comes and sits under the oak where in Ofra (dust) where (are) Joash (Yehoweh + ya’ash (gives) or + esh (fire)), my father, the Azeri (help).

And Gideon (cutter) his son – a wheat(s)  thresher in a wine press to save it (hide) from the face of  Midyan.

12: And Messenger Yehoweh inspects him and says to him, “Yehoweh is with you, mighty man of wealth/strength”.

13: And Gideon says to Him, “Please my Lord!!

And (if) Yehoweh exists with us, then for what did we find us in all this?

And where are all the wonders which were told to us by our fathers to say ‘Did Yehoweh not make us aliyah (ascend) us from Egypt?’

And now Yehoweh abandoned us and causes us to be given in to Midyan’s palms.

14: And Yehoweh faces up to him and says, “Walk (lek) in this enduring strength of yours. And you shall cause to save (Hoshea) The Israel from Midyan’s palms. Did I not send you?”.

14: And he says to Him, “Please my Lord!! With what can I cause to save (oshea) The Israel? Behold my thousand – the poor Manasseh (make forgotten)! And I, the young-one in my father’s house.”

15: And Yehoweh says to him, “For I Am (Ehiyeh) with you. You have made Midyan defeated as a single man.”

Prayer: Lord, speak to our Gideon’s today. May we be saved because You are ‘Ehiyeh Imak’ – I AM with you.

Amen.
