Psalm 22: The Crucifixion

1: (Sung) To a melody of David – ‘Deer of Dawn’

“My God, My God for why did you forsake me?” (where, Matt 27:45, Mk 15:34, ) – roaring words from far away (long ago) from our Yshua.

2: “My God”, I cry in the day and You do not respond.

And in the night I am not silent with You.

3: And You! Separate (Holy)!

Dwelling in God-Strife’s (Israel’s) (songs of) praise (shining).

4: Our fathers- They trusted in You.

They trusted and You rescued them (made them escape).

5: They cried out to You and You snuck them away.

They trusted You and they were not shamed.

6: But I am a worm (scarlet) and no man, the reproach of men and despising of people.

7: All seeing me mock me. They are setting their lips free and making their heads shake.

8: (He is) Wallowed (rolled up) in Yehoweh. He carries him away safely. He causes him to be delivered for he delights in Him. (Matt 27:43,49, Lk 23:35, Mk 15:36).

9: But you burst me forth from a womb, make me secure on my mother’s breast,

10: I was made to be cast down upon a womb, my mother’s womb (by) – You, My God.

11: Do not be far from me for trouble is near – for there is no one (else) to help.

12: Great and lofty bulls surrounded me, Bulls of Bashan (high yield Golan heights cattle) encircled me

13: their mouths opened at me.

A lion to tear me (apart) and to roar.

14: I was poured out like water and all my bones were made to dislocate themselves.

It was that my heart was melted like wax within me.

15: My enduring strength dried up like shards of baked clay.

My tongue is made to stick in to my palate.

(M-l’kok is not Strongs 4455 prey. Its not from l’kak- to take. Its from kak – חכ – Strongs 2441 palate – which appears with tongue and stuck in Job 29:10, Ps 137:6 and Lam 4:4)

And you have brought me to death dust (Gen 3:19 – from dust you came and to dust you return).

16: For a congregation / church (1)  of wicked dogs surrounded me, had me beaten, gouged (2) my hands and feet.

(1) Adah – Strongs 5712 used as “church” of Israel or believers 143/149 times. Adah is either from ‘ya’ad’ appointed group or ‘ed’ witness. Adah is equivalent to Greek ekklesia – called from. Other 4 exceptions  to Adah used for congregation of Israel are Judges 14:8 bees, Job 15:34 godless, Ps 68:30 bulls, Ps 86:14 violent men.

(2) Dead Sea Scroll 4qpsf, LXX, Syriac, Vulgate favour  כָּ֝אֲרִ֗י  as a verb כארוּ – not the noun like a lion as in the Masorete. Refs:

17: I count my bones – they are made to look and see me (sticking out).

18: They divided my garment for them.

And for my clothes, they cast lots.

19: But You, Yehoweh, are not far from me.

My Help!

My helper – hasten!

20: Cause me to be delivered from the sword!

My soul from a dog’s hand.

My one and only darling.

21: Cause me to be saved (Hoshea) from a lion’s mouth and from wild oxens’ horns.

You answered me:

22: I will count your Name  as my brothers’.

In the midst of an assembly, I praise You.

23: Fearers of Yehoweh, Praise Him!

All the seed of Bottom-End (Jacob), give Him Glory!

and sojourn with Him, all seed of God-Strife (Israel)!

24: For He did not despise and He did not detest affliction of the afflicted.

He did not cause His Face to be hidden from Him when He cried out for help to Him. He heard.

25: My praise of You is in a great assembly.

I complete my vows before those who fear Him.

26: The poor eat and are being sated and praise Yehoweh.

Those who seek Him – May your hearts live forever.

27: Remember and return to Yehoweh till all the world ends.

All families of unbelieving nations make themselves bow down before You.

28: For to Yehoweh, the kingdom is to rule in the unbelieving nations.

29: All the prosperous earth eat and make themselves bow down before Him.

All who descend to dust bow and their souls did not live.

30: The seed of those who serve Him are counted to the Lord ( Adonai) for a generation.

31: They come and emphasise His righteousness to those born to people that He DID this.

Prayer: O Lord Jesus, the gospels told us what You said. I am comforted that, even in that forsaking, You knew Your Father’s Love in this tragedy. What a relief that we know that the Father did not despise You in that moment but answered You, counted on You, praised You and had His Kingdom to rule in the nations through what You did. You Did it!! You are praised in the great assemblies. But thank You for taking on that awful  abandonment for our sake. Amen.
