1: In the 8th month of the 2nd year of Darius, The Word (Dabar) of Yehoweh, He came to Remember-God (Skariah), son of Bless-God (Berekiah), son of Time-of-month (Iddo), the prophet, (Haggai is the other twin prophet also in the 2nd year of Darius (1st day of 6th month) Haggai 1:1) saying
2: Yehoweh was displeased-angry (katsef- not affi temper angry) with your fathers – angry!
3: And you say to them, Thus said Yehoweh of parliaments/councils, Turn back to Me, The Word (Nahum) of Yehoweh of parliaments and I return to you says Yehoweh of parliaments.
4: Do not be like your fathers. The first prophets called to them saying , Thus says Yehoweh of parliaments, Turn back, Na, from your bad ways and your bad deeds. But they did not hear (Shema) and did not incline their ears to me, the Word Yehoweh.
5: Your fathers – where are they? The prophets – do they live forever?
6: However My words and My inscriptions which I charged to My servants, the prophets, did not reach your fathers. And so they turned back and said to them, Just as Yehoweh of Parliaments determined to do to us according to our ways and deeds, so He did to us. Ponder that!
7: On the 24th day of the 10th month – it was the month of Shevat in the 2nd year of Darius, Word (Dabar) of Yehoweh, He came to Remember-God (Skariah), son of Bless-God (Berekiah), son of Time-of-month (Iddo), the prophet, saying
8: In the night I saw, behold, a man riding on a red horse. He stood between myrtle trees which were in a hollow (myrtle symbolises marriage, love and faithfulness. It’s leaves were used by Nehemiah’s exiles to make tents for Sukkoth along with olive, oil, and palm leaves Neh 8:15) .
Bringing up the rear were horses – red, speckled and white.
9: And I said, “What are these my Lord?” And he said to me, “The Messenger, The Speaker- with/to me. I cause to show you who are these and those. And the man who stood between myrtle trees replied, “Those are whom Yehoweh sent to make themselves walk on earth.
11: and they answer to The Messenger of Yehoweh who stands between myrtle trees and they say, “we made ourselves walk on earth – behold all the inhabited and undisturbed earth.
12: And they answer to The Messenger of Yehoweh and say, Yehoweh of Parliaments, how long will you not have tender mercy to Shooting-Peace (Jerusalem) and on the cities of God-Praise (Judah) which you denounced? It is 70 years!
13: and Yehoweh answers The Messenger, The Speaker with good words and comforting words for me.
14: And The Messenger, The Speaker, said to me, “Call out and say Thus says Yehoweh of Parliaments, I am zealous for Shooting-Peace (Jerusalem) and greatly zealous for drought-mountain (Zion).
15: And I am enraged with a great rage against secure unbelieving nations (Goyim). When I was a little enraged, they succoured evil.
16: And then, This says Yehoweh, I am returning to Shooting-Peace with tender mercies. My house is being built for/in the Word of Yehoweh of Parliaments. A measuring tape stretches out on Shooting-Peace.
17: Once again call out and say, Thus says the Lord of Parliaments,
Once again goodness and Yehoweh’s consolation disperse/scatter on my cities.
Once again I chose drought-mountain (Zion)
Once again for/in shooting-peace (Jerusalem)
Ponder that!
18: And I lift up my eyes and I look – and behold 4 horns! (? Loud strong mouthpieces ready but not implementing strength – like a parliamentary act or ordinance)
19: And I say to The Messenger who talks to me, “What are these?” And he answers me, These are the horns which are scattered in God-praise (Judah), in God-strife (Israel) and Shooting- peace (Jerusalem).
Ponder that!
20: And Yehoweh causes me to see 4 engravers (? Law makers).
21: And I say, “What are these coming to do?” And He says, “ These are saying that the horns which are scattered in God-praise (Judah) are like no man’s mouth, no head lifted (them) up. They are coming to cause terror, to throw out the horns of unbelieving nations who lift up a horn against the land of God-praise and to scatter them.
Ponder that!
Prayer:
Holy Spirit Messenger, Speaker of good and comforting words to our souls, may these Your words reach us and not have to turn back. Lord of Parliaments, may we turn back to you so we hear the 4 ordinances of goodness, proclamations of consolation made by 4 of your law-makers. They need no human advertisement to be carried swiftly across secure but unbelieving nations to scatter their ordinances which were raised against God-Praise. Amen.
