Hosea 5 – Mispat on Mispah – Judgement on High

1: Hear this, priests. Make yourself pay attention, house of God-strifers and house of the king. Get your ears listening.

For to you is the Judgement.

For at look-out places (mizpah) you were a birdnet

For at shattered places (Tabor) you spread a net

Or

For the judgement (ha-mispat)against you is like a bird trap that you have been at a viewpoint (Mispah), and a spread net on a shattered place (Tabor).

2: and the backsliders immerse themselves in slaughter

And I, I chastised them all.

3: I know Covered-one (Ephraim)

and God-strifer is not hidden from me:

Covered – you caused prostitution.

God-strifer – you became unclean.

4: They do not put returning to their God into practice.

For the spirit of prostitution is in their midst and they do not know their Yehowah.

5: answered Israel’s Excellence to his face.

And God-strife and Covered-one tottered in their guilt, even God-praise stumbled with them.

6: with their flocks and their cattle they walk, seeking their Yehowah and don’t find – He withdrew from them.

7: They dealt treacherously with Yehowah.

For they begat stranger’s children

Now their territory is eaten up in a month. Think about that!

Blow a shofar in hill city (Ephraim’s Giveah), the trumpet in elevated city (Ramah from Room)

Shout out in the house of trouble (Beth Aven):

“Behind you, Son of a right hand (Benjamin)

9: In a day Covered-one (Ephraim) shall be wasted

I will make rebuke known and confirmed (Amen-ed) in the tribes of Israel.

10: Judah’s princes are like those who make boundaries to be pushed back. I will pour out our wrath (overflowing/cross over) on them like water.

11: Extorting Covered-one, crushed in judgement for he was pleased to have walked till the last rule/command.

12: I, I am like a moth to Covered-one, and like rottenness to the house of God-praise.

13: Covered-one sees his illness.

God-praise sees his wound.

Covered-one walks to Advanced-people (Ashur) and sends (shalak) to the the King of Contention (Yarev).

And he is not able to heal (rapha) you and cannot remove (Gahah – cure) a wound from you.

14: For I, I will be like a roaring lion (shakal) to Covered-one, and like a young lion (kafir) to the house of God-praise. I, I – I tear them, I walk them, I lift them and no one can deliver them.

15: I walk, I turn back to my place until which time they become guilty and distressfully seek my face, earnestly seeking me.

Prayer: I, covered by You, was on a high, doing well because of You and from my high viewpoint, I said and did things that enslaved and ensnared others. I ended up wounded and ill because of what I said and did. Your wrath and judgement can pounce on me in a day! Lord I am sorry. Can I undo what I said and did? Thank You for Saving me from Your judgement.
