The ups and downs of the second coming. 2 Thes 2:2-4 (Greek)

2 Thessalonians 2:

3: .. No one should deceive you in no one way. Because if not comes

an apostasy (apo away from/ separating + histemi stand, set up vs enhistemi (in-standing in v1) on the day (hemera is sunrise to sunset) of the Lord)

an apocalypse (apo away from/ separating + kalypthe cover up)

of the mankind (anthropos) of anomia (a not + nomos systematic law or knowledge – from which all the “nomies” come eg astronomy),

the son of apoleias (apo away from/ separating + ollymi cut off entirely from),

4: the antikeimenos (anti against + kauteriazo placed, laid down, destined) and

hyperairomenos (hyper above/beyond + airo raised up, lifted, removed) above every named god or adored thing.

Therefore he sits down in the temple of God, apodeiknynta (apo away from/ separating + deiknya bring up, show forth/exhibit), that he himself is God …

My prayer:

O Lord, we see finite and mighty man pushing down principled stands, knowledge and laws and transparency and raising up himself as a replacement of them in his battle with you – unsuccessfully trying to hide his rebellious motives.

Then You, Infinite and Almighty God, Die and Resurrect and then are revealed in Your Victorious Second Coming.

And so we gather under your wings on the day of the Lord, neither troubled nor shaken (from v2. … and even though I haven’t formally studied Greek verbs 🙂)
